Our partnership with Mongabay.com started in 2010. Our target was to translate Mongabay's informative pages of the rain forests of the world to Finnish, to be included in Mongabay website. This task was almost finished in February 2011 and it is already available for those with Finnish skills.

About the book

The work on the guidebook "A Birdwatching Guide to South-East Brazil" began as part of the Finnish-Brazilian Association’s project “Eco-tourism development project in Penedo, Rio de Janeiro," which was jointly funded by the Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Association. The four-year project took place from 2001 to 2004 and was carried out in co-operation with Clube Finlândia of Penedo. The project’s aims included creating a series of nature trails in the hills of Penedo, building a guided trail network in the Arboretum in Penedo, poster exhibitions in Penedo, a Bird of Penedo contest, as well as many other ways of spreading information and awareness of the value of the natural environment of Mata Atlântica. While the official project ended in 2004, unofficial work with this guidebook continued. It took an additional five and half years and a lot of fieldwork, which we particularly enjoyed, to finish the book.
